Introduction

ProPort is an intelligent Port and Harbour Management System developed by Digiits for Ibistek Group and deployed at the Takoradi Port in Ghana.
The platform was designed to digitalize, streamline, and optimize every aspect of port operations from berth allocation and vessel traffic management to cargo tracking, billing, and stakeholder collaboration. ProPort transforms how modern ports operate by connecting all departments through one seamless, data-driven system.

Problem Statement / Challenges

The Takoradi Port faced multiple operational bottlenecks:

Fragmented systems for vessel scheduling, documentation, and cargo management.

Manual data entry leading to delays and inconsistencies.

Inefficient communication between port authorities, shipping agents, and terminal operators.

Lack of real-time visibility into operations, which made decision-making reactive rather than proactive.

The challenge for Digiits was to build a comprehensive digital infrastructure that unifies all operational, administrative, and financial workflows into a single, secure, and scalable software ecosystem.

Design process

Our process began with deep field discovery at Takoradi Port, shadowing operators, interviewing port managers, and mapping data flows across departments. This led to a design framework focused on operational efficiency, transparency, and automation. The Digiits design and product teams crafted a modular interface tailored for each user group, from operations and logistics to finance and management, ensuring usability across skill levels. Low-fidelity wireframes evolved into a complete design system with intuitive dashboards, color-coded status indicators, and interactive charts for real-time data visualization.

Solution / Approach

Digiits developed ProPort as a robust, integrated solution covering the full spectrum of port management:

Vessel Traffic & Berth Management: Real-time berth scheduling, ETA tracking, and vessel queue optimization.

Cargo & Yard Operations: Digital cargo manifests, automated yard assignment, and status updates across terminals.

Billing & Invoicing: Automated billing tied to vessel movements and cargo volume, improving revenue accuracy and speed.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Centralized platform for communication between port authorities, agents, shipping lines, and customs.

Reporting & Analytics: Real-time insights into port utilization, throughput, and financial performance.

The solution was deployed in phases to minimize disruption, with hands-on training and continuous optimization during rollout.
